A Japanese-affiliated company operating in North America is seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee the financial operations of its holding entity and subsidiary companies. This position will lead financial reporting, consolidation, FP&A, internal controls (including J-SOX compliance), and team management. The role is responsible for ensuring accurate and compliant accounting operations while providing strategic financial insights to executive management and headquarters in Japan.

Responsibilities and Duties
- Lead monthly and quarterly financial reporting and consolidation, including intercompany reconciliations and reporting to headquarters.
- Oversee subsidiary financial data to ensure compliance with Japanese GAAP and local GAAP, and resolve reporting discrepancies.
- Manage audit and tax processes by coordinating with external auditors and tax advisors, and overseeing preparation of required filings.
- Direct budgeting and forecasting processes, conduct variance analysis, and provide financial insights and KPI analysis to support management decision-making.
- Develop and maintain internal controls (J-SOX/US-SOX), strengthen governance frameworks, and ensure compliance with transfer pricing and other regulatory requirements.
- Supervise and develop the accounting team, oversee full-cycle closing (month-end, quarter-end, year-end), and manage day-to-day accounting operations including GL, AP/AR, payroll, and fixed assets.
Qualifications
- 7–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including managerial responsibilities.
- Hands-on experience in financial consolidation, audit coordination, and financial analysis.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Japanese (reading, writing, and speaking), with the ability to interpret financial, technical, and legal documents in both languages.
- Strong technical skills, including ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics GP, QuickBooks) and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (financial modeling).
- CPA (U.S. or Japan) is highly preferred.
