Responsibilities and Duties
- Manage U.S. federal and state tax compliance engagements for corporate and individual clients
- Support cross-border tax matters and coordinate with stakeholders in both the U.S. and Japan
- Review tax returns, supporting documentation, and work papers prepared by staff members
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients and maintain strong client relationships
- Coordinate with internal teams and external advisors to ensure timely and accurate project execution
- Identify tax planning opportunities and support advisory engagements for clients
- Support tax due diligence activities related to M&A transactions, including tax exposure reviews and transaction structuring considerations
- Contribute to business development efforts by identifying prospective clients, building relationships, and generating new opportunities
- Ensure compliance with project deadlines, quality standards, and internal control procedures
Qualifications
- CPA license preferred, or actively pursuing certification
- 5–10+ years of relevant tax experience, preferably within a public accounting environment
- Strong knowledge of U.S. corporate and individual taxation
- Experience with international or cross-border tax matters preferred
- Experience supporting tax due diligence, M&A transactions, or transaction advisory services is strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to support business development activities and generate new client opportunities preferred
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively
- Japanese language skills are a must
