Senior Accountant
This position is with a Japanese-affiliated company operating in a global business environment. The role is responsible for overseeing and executing end-to-end accounting operations for the regional headquarters, including transactional accounting, month-end closing, and financial reporting. This position will act as a hands-on Senior Accountant, directly managing journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting, while also supporting consolidated financial reporting, treasury functions, and audit coordination across group entities.

Responsibilities and Duties
- Lead and execute month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparation and posting of journal entries (GL, payroll, accruals) and ensuring general ledger accuracy
- Prepare monthly financial statements (BS/PL), analyze budget variances, and maintain fixed asset records including depreciation schedules
- Manage full-cycle accounts payable and employee expense processing, including invoice verification, payment execution, and reimbursement handling
- Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations and ensure accuracy of financial records and documentation for audit trails
- Collect and review financial reporting packages from subsidiaries, reconcile intercompany transactions, and support consolidation processes
- Oversee treasury-related activities including cash position monitoring, wire transfers, online banking administration, and foreign exchange support
- Coordinate internal and external audit preparation by organizing schedules and supporting documentation
- Identify workflow inefficiencies and implement process improvements, including ERP optimization and updates to accounting manuals and guidelines
- Serve as a key ERP user, manage master data, and support system-related troubleshooting as needed
- Support cross-functional collaboration, team mentoring, and special projects assigned by management
Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of progressive accounting experience in a corporate environment
- Hands-on experience with US GAAP, month-end closing, and audit coordination required
- Experience with Japanese GAAP and IFRS preferred
- Experience in a multi-entity or holding company environment preferred
- Business-level proficiency in both English and Japanese (reading, writing, speaking) required
- Strong ERP system experience (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics GP, QuickBooks) and advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, SUMIF, etc.)
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
