Responsibilities and Duties
- Collect and review clients’ financial records, income statements, and expenditures. Analyze and minimize tax liabilities by implementing tax reduction strategies.
- Prepare, review, and file accurate federal, state, and local tax returns for clients.
- Review work papers and tax returns prepared by team members including technically complex returns.
- Prepare federal and state estimated tax payments, state apportionment, and tax extensions for clients.
- Ensure clients comply with IRS regulations and meet their state and federal tax obligations. Participate in client meetings to assist with answering questions, review returns, research tax issues, and be involved in strategic tax planning.
- Represent clients before the IRS, state, and local tax agencies as needed.
- Provide tax support to clients and responds to various client notices received from the federal, state, and local governments.
- Manage tax software and supervise the implementation of new features and updates.
- Research tax law and stay up to date on tax law changes. Educate team members on tax topics./li>
Qualifications
- Fluency in Japanese (Professional Working ~ Native level) is a big plus.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in preparing corporate and personal income tax for clients
- Strong knowledge of tax and accounting laws, procedures, and tax issues especially in the areas of tax compliance, tax accounting, and consulting services.
- Comprehensive technical skills in corporate and personal tax planning and compliance, as well as tax accounting and financial reporting, including tax provision preparation, audit, and review.
- Proficiency in Lacerte tax software preferred.
- CPA or Enrolled Agent certificate preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in taxation or accounting, or equivalent experience required.
