Responsibilities and Duties
- Determine accurate HTSUS (Harmonized Tariff Schedule ) classification of items imported into the United States
- Coordinate with other subsidiaries to share information and resolve common issues relating to customs compliance and importation
- Keep apprised of all relevant changes to the HTSUS, Binding Rulings, etc.
- Work with Senior Customs Compliance Specialist to utilize US Customs ruling submission process to enable effective, lawful tariff engineering, resulting in lower annual duty amounts
- Assists Materials Control team members in resolution of critical logistics issues in accordance with departmental procedures
- Proactively addresses import customs clearance problems that directly affect parts availability and customer satisfaction
- Recommend procedural changes to improve efficiency of materials operations
- Logistics (transportation) coordination of critical spare parts and tools, emergency spare parts order processing, purchase order generation and other duties as required.
Qualifications
- Fluency in Japanese is a big plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in EE, ME, EET, MET or ElectroMechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Previous experience in electro-mechanical troubleshooting or related field is strongly preferred.
- Self-starter demonstrating technical competence of electrical, mechanical and optical systems or subsystems.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills to work effectively with co-workers, supervisors and customers
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
